Businesses in Bristol have an auspicious location — within easy reach of London by train (just an hour and 45 minutes to Paddington from Bristol Temple Meads) and well-connected by road, with the intersection of the M4 and M5 motorways just north of the city. From a recruitment point of view, the city is also well-served by a continuous stream of talent from both Bristol University and the University of the West of England, as well as Bath Uni and beyond.

The digital revolution that has swept across the UK in recent decades has benefitted Bristol more than most, helping to make the city’s already above average economic performance go from good to exceptional. The digital revolution in the South West of England has lead to the coining of the term Silicon Gorge (a play on Silicon Valley and the Avon Gorge which the River Avon follows as it makes its way from Avonmouth into Bristol).

There’s no doubt about it: Bristol’s tech industry is booming. As a city with a long history of innovation, Bristol it is now taking a lead in the UK’s tech sector, so much so that some have nicknamed the area, Silicon Gorge (a play on Avon Gorge and Silicon Valley).
