Cannot see mapped drives when browsing to select folders in a program or install process
If you have a machine with network mapped drives setup which are accessible via “This PC” in file explorer but cannot be seen when browsing for a folder location in a program installation or just within a program to open data this is caused by User Account Control (UAC).
In some cases turning off UAC from the control panel does not work. In such cases when you have disabled UAC under the control panel, UAC may still be running and therefore needs to be disabled fully via the computer registry. UAC running will stop your machine from seeing mapped drives in some processes.
Please apply the fix below to resolve:
1. Go to the Windows 8 Start Menu
2. Type “regedit”
